This memorial website was created to rememberCurtis "Crow" Neal Crawford who was born in Trona, California on November 27, 1947 and passed away on August 11, 2008 at the age of 60. He will live forever in our memories and hearts.

Curtis “Crow” Neal Crawford, 60, of East Peoria, IL, formerly of Carthage, TX, passed away at 7:28 p.m. on Monday, August 11, 2008, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, IL.

Curtis was born in Trona, CA on November 27, 1947, a son of Paul and Christine (Bagley) Crawford. He married Connie Jo Cohen on January 28, 1971 in Carthage. His parents; stepfather, Shorty McGee; and his sister, Pam Kees, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Jo Crawford of East Peoria; son, Justin (Renae) Crawford of Washington, IL; daughter, Candace Crawford of Carthage; sister, Glenda (Terry) Everett of Carthage; brother, Troy Dean Kees of Carthage; granddaughter, Haylee of Washington; mother-in-law, Jacqueline “Granny” Clements of Washington; nephews, Brandon Everett of Carthage and Daniel Minter of Whitehouse, TX; and nieces, Lara Kate Everett of Carthage and Ashley Minter of Whitehouse.
Crow was a foreman, last working for B & B Construction Company in Carthage.

Crow enjoyed reading the newspaper, talking, collecting baseball caps and spending time with his son, Justin. He loved music, especially Country, Blues and Jazz. His favorite songs were “I Believe in You”, by Don Williams and “Here in the Real World”, by Alan Jackson.

He was a sports fan and his favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Astros. He enjoyed teaching his children about sports. He served as his high school football team’s quarterback.

He loved spending time outside and could talk to anyone that would listen. He never met a stranger and had a great gift of gab. He was a long-winded, tall and handsome Texan. He always said the he was “tall, dark, handsome and neat and known from coast to coast like butter and toast”!

He was a proud father and a proud husband to his wife, Connie Jo, for thirty-seven years. He was a wonderful man, truly one-of-a-kind and, even in his own mind, “a character”. He will be loved and cherished forever.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2008, at the Sunnyland Christian Church in Sunnyland, IL, with the Rev. Dr. Bruce Dobyns officiating. An additional memorial service and interment of the cremated remains will be held at the family property in Gary, TX on Saturday, August 23, 2008.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home in Peoria.
